The book has a publication date!!

I am so excited to be able to write these words: Curly Like Me is set to come out early May of 2010!!

I haven't seen the cover yet—Wiley is still working on it—but I can't wait to see what it will look like!

(The above picture was one of the covers I was thinking about when I was originally going to print the book myself)

congrats! I do think that you should add an old picture, so before and after pic on the cover so that people see the HUGE difference straight away!

And look here....
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am about you, your story and the heaps of info you've made available to us 'with the bad hair'.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Awesome Teri! Now, you've made sure the Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival's on your book tour schedule yes? Please?

Anonymous: That's a great idea! And actually, when I was going to do the book myself, I did have a before and after photo on it, which I've given to Wiley. So I'm hoping they will do just that, because I think it tells the story better than words can.

Susan: I'd love to have you do a review! I'm going to make a note to get a copy to you for review from Wiley. If the date is coming near and you haven't heard from Wiley or myself, please do remind me. I'm scatter-brained already, and the excitement has made me even more so.

krj1908: Thank you for saying that! You know just what to say to a girl!

Anouska: I'm so glad you are glad about the book--me too! I'm working really hard to make sure it has tons of information that took me 30 years to gather. One thing this journey has taught me is that all hair is good hair. We just need to learn what makes it thrive.

Heidi: Hi Heidi! I have been telling everyone that I absolutely want to do the Mixed Roots Festival! I can't wait to go! Will it be the same date as last year?

Teri, I'm so excited for your book to come out and so thankful for your blog and website. I've been on my own curly journey for the last few years. I was just getting started on creating my own blog of reviews for curly hair products when I came across your website. Whew! Why re-invent the wheel! Bravo!

Thank you so much for your congratulations and your kind words Anna Renee, SweetieDarling72, CelinaStarr and Ana Júlia! I'm so excited!

Hi Erika: I really appreciate you taking the time to read the blog and check out the website. Jon and I are working to put up a comprehensive review of products, which we are building now. But I do feel that the more of our voices that are out there, the better. You might have a totally different take on products than I do (I mostly go by the ingredients in there first, then focus on how they worked), so your voice would be hugely valuble.

Ehav Ever: It sounds like you are doing good things for the community.

Hi Teri! ^_^ I just found your website yesterday and I read it ALL! LOL... I came back today to visit your blog and I must say I'm VERY excited for your book to come out.

I just want to say that you (and your hair ^_~) are AMAZING and inspirational on SO many levels. I feel very fortunate to have found your website and to know there's a woman out there with a hair story that so closely mirrors my own.

I'm 26, just cut 5 inches off my hair in July and am newly natural. It was a horrible experience for me, because I've always wanted longer hair and my hair was the longest it had ever been in my life (just below my shoulders). But the hair was so damaged and breaking constantly...so I knew it had to be done.

In a mad frenzy of hating my new hair cut, I've began searching for ways to make my hair grow back faster. Everything I've found has told me that natural hair is the way to go.

So, natural for me is not flat ironing, and I haven't flat ironed in almost 2 months. It's really hard at times, because I am so used to the straight look, but you have given me new hope that maybe in 10 years I can be where you are today. I can't wait to try your method this weekend --and to read your book! ^_^

Congratulations, and much sucess to you in the future!!

Many blessings...

So excited; hope you do a book tour and I can have you sign the book--I'd love to meet you in person!

Blackened Dove: Thank you so much for reading the site and the blog! I went through so much heartache with my hair growing up, ruining so many heads of hair with chemicals, and spent countless hours trying to figure out what it wanted.

Now that I found out how to make my hair happy, I wanted to see to it that no one else goes through what I did. I guess that's a long way of saying I really do hope the site can help you!

I'm proud of you for deciding to go natural. As far as I have found out, it's absolutely the only way to grow long hair if it's fragile like mine tends to be. My mom was able to grow her hair long with a relaxer in it, but my hair did like yours and just fell apart.

There is no reason that in ten years from now you won't have hair that you can nearly sit on, just like I do. Once we learn how to make our hair happy, it grows and grows.

Msdeem9: Aw, thank you so much! I'd love to meet you too! I haven't heard anything yet about if I will be doing a tour with the book. I've been reading that how-to books don't usually get a tour like fiction books do, but as soon as I hear anything, I'll post it.
