Teri congratulations on your book! I gained a lot of hope and confidence from your hairstory that i went ahead and cut my heat damaged ends to start nuturing my natural hair- I know it will mean effort and me paying lots of attention to my hair, but i am sooooo happy.
In the future, i hope i can send you pics of my younger days. Your pics (that big wide smile on the front page of your blog) looks exactly like me when i had a california curl/relaxer/whatever else. I've never felt comfortable with relaxers although i kept my hair looking good.
I send so many thoughts and blessing to your success- you have really helped me and others ease into such a transitional and pivotal decision about our hair! Thank you, Suzann

Fergster: Thank you so much for your kind words about the book!!

Lady T: I'm happy to meet you! That's so cool you are from KY as well! I'm glad Chicago is more accepting. That's hugely important. Thank you so much for you kind wishes about the blog and the book!

Anonymous(1): Thank you! I wish I'd known all this stuff about 30 years ago! But the important thing is that we learn it as some point, eh?

Suzann:Ah! That makes me so happy to hear that those early awkward photos helped. I really don't want anyone else to feel they are alone. And I tell you, if someone as uncoordinated as me can grow out my hair, anyone can! Yes, if you'd ever like to send any before and after photos (for the site, or just to show me), my email is telzeek@gmail.com . I'm really happy anything on the site has helped you, and I'd love to hear how your hair journey continues to go.

-----(=^.^=)-----: and LuvDeluxe: Thank you so much!I really hope you like the book!

M.S: I'm honored that your first post was here! I'm so so glad to hear any of the techniques on the site have helped you! That makes me really happy. Thank you so much for buying the book!

toinhaflorzinha: I'm so happy to hear from you, and from Brazil, too! I'm hoping to find more conditioners that are available in other parts of the world, so you will have more choices. Thank you so much for your message!

Anonymous(2): Thank you so much!!!

Hello, Teri. I came across your site a few months ago. At first I thought you were a little "hair-obsessed." But, after I saw one of your YouTube videos, I realized that you really are trying to inspire others to ditch the chemicals. I've worn Wave Nouveau for 19 years now; through the years, I've experienced my share of breakage, although I like how it looks on me. I'm considering letting my natural hair grow out now. My natural hair's texture looks similar to yours.

I'm thinking about ordering your book for additional advice/inspiration. Good luck to you, and thanks for sharing! Also, you were an adorable "Mushroom-Haired Child!"

Hi!

I'm from holland and i want to thank you for sharing your techniques!
You're very helpful!

Could you please answer a question?
I would really appreciate your advice.

I use Palmolive conditioner as a combing conditioner but the product contains isopropyl alcohol, perfume, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, benzyl alcohol, prunus amygdalus dulcis extract, prunus amygdalus dulcis oil, sine adipe lac, amyl cinnamal, benzyl salicylate.
The product contains some other ingredients but these are okay.

Should i keep using the product as a combing conditioner or as a rinsing conditioner?
Could you please send me the answer by email: nmarialopes@hotmail.com

Thanks again for all your tips and techniques.

Thank you!!! I am the mother of a biracial little girl. One day she came to me and said 'I hate my curly hair I wish mine was long and straight like yours.'So Sad! But yesterday I found your site, used method and my daughter's hair is beautiful (and longer) today. As a white women, I would never leave conditioner in my hair- I would have never found the secret if not for you!

You are an inspiration.

2 years ago, I decided to cut my hair off after 12 years of intense relaxing, flawed use of heat tools, and my own attempts at trimming (gah!!). I came upon your website today, after searching for ways to style my short curly (yet all natural) hair...I followed your tips...and am INSTANTLY hooked...

Thank you so much for taking this journey, and for sharing your experiences with the rest of us curly haired folks...

You're the first person I've seen with hair just like mine, and it was reassuring...

Keep it up!!

Teri, I'm waiting with baited breath for your book! You are a God send! I'm using the combing conditioner and Denman combing technique on my tightly curly, frizzy haired 4 year old daughter with great success! Yours is the only method that keeps her hair well moisturized and healthy looking.

I'm slowly trying to wean myself from becoming a product junky, too as I'm growing out my relaxer since November 09.

Best wishes and much success with your book in 2010!

I found your site while searching for help. Unlike you, I spent 30 years hating my boring straight hair - and then it went curly. It started out slight but 5 years later I had a head of completely curly hair and looked like a puff ball. I had no idea what to do! Fortunately I've found a curl specialist who is helping and also your site.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that all of the women on your site are beautiful and have gorgeous hair, including you. Your techniques also work well on less tightly curled heads like mine!

Best wishes,
Q

Anonymous (1): I must say that before I could figure out my hair, I was totally obsessed with my hair. But once I figured it out, I stopped really thinking about it for years. Then I realized my hair wasn't a big deal anymore. And that was a big deal. And that's when I started the site. I really applaud that you are even thinking about growing out the chemicals. It's a big change from doing something for 19 years! Thank you so much also for considering buying the book, and for your kind words about my mushroom-haired days.

mixiepixie: Aw, thank you so much! I love all the work that you've been doing for our lovely tight curls, and thank you thank you for the shout-out on your blog! You are so sweet—and your hair looks fantastic!

N.Lopes (Anonymous (2)): Welcome! I'm really happy to hear from you. I am wanting to try to get more products I recommend that are available over seas too. To answer your question, the isopropyl alcohol is drying to be in a combing conditioner, but if it would be okay as a rinsing conditioner (it won't have a chance to dry out your hair because rinsing conditioners are only used on wet hair and then rinsed out before the alcohol can dry it out). But the rest of the ingredients look okay, so long as they are all at the very bottom of your ingredient list.

heatherh: This is wonderful! You have no idea how happy it makes me that when you heard your little girl wanted straight hair, you didn't run right out and put chemicals on it to get it straight, thereby confirming to her her curls are unacceptable. Instead, you cared enough to take the time to look for a way for her to love her curls. And it makes me happy I had some small part in it. It is for people like you that I put up the site in the first place.

I deleted the one comment because it was a long block of Asian characters, and led to what looked like an empty blog

Demiera: That makes me so happy! What courage it takes to make a change like that after so many years of relaxing! And I'm so glad that seeing photos of my hair was reassuring to you. There's nothing like finally seeing images that represent us for the first time. What a relief it can be!

Anonymous (3): I'm so glad the techniques have helped you with your daughter! And it really makes me so glad to hear that you care enough to take the time to find what works for her—you really are giving her a gift. And that you are growing out your relaxer deserves applause. It isn't easy to do, but I think it's always worth it. Thank you so much for your kind wishes for the book!

Q: Oh my gosh, I haven't heard of that happening! What a surprise to suddenly find yourself with curly hair! Well, I'm so glad if anything on the site has been able to help you, and I do agree all the women who were so kind to send in their pictures (and thank you for your very sweet words about my hair). Welcome to the curly world!
